I'm trying something a little different with this set by putting some of the monster stats on the bottom of the printable minis. I would love to get some feedback on this so please post back and let me know what you think. Is it readable after it's printed or is it too small? Are the stats useful? Here's an example:
Here are the download links:
Here's the list of Zombies included in the sheet:
- Zombie (Level 2) [Monster Manual 1]
- Zombie Rotter (Level 3) [Monster Manual 1]
- Corruption Corpse (Level 4) [Monster Manual 1]
- Gravehound (Level 3) [Monster Manual 1]
- Chillborn Zombie (Level 6) [Monster Manual 1]
- Rotwing Zombie (Level 4) [Monster Manual 1]
- Zombie Hulk (Level 8) [Monster Manual 1]
Hi, Unwise from ENWorld here. They are looking great mate. I like the idea of the stats under the monster. If I can suggest, you could get rid of the things that are either obvious (size), don't matter in combat(level), or are only needed once(initiative).
ReplyDeleteAlso, people track damage elsewhere, so HP is not really needed either for quick reference.
I suggest using the spare space from these removals to put in their at-will/basic attack/s (without name). Just: (+4, 1d8+2).
I think the stats are a great idea, and they are a lot cleaner and easier on the eyes than I would have expected.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback. That's a good thought, Unwise. I might have to try cutting back on some of the "fluff" and see what else I can fit in there.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE the stats, but it might be worth noting that they are 4e specific. That doesn't bother me since I only play 4e, but it might be confusing to someone using these for 3.5, or an entirely different game system.
ReplyDeleteCan you make it like a 'layer' that you can turn on and off?
That's true, if someone is using them for a different edition or system they're kind of worthless...
DeleteAs someone who is playing Pathfinder, the stats aren't really useful. But it's cool that they're there. Maybe make them a layer like Scott Hertzberg suggested?
DeleteI personally think it's awesome that they're there, but it would have to be, like someone else suggested, a layer, either because of the reason given above, or because the DM dosen't want the players to know it's precise health, or stats in general. Also, it could be that the DM changed some stats, for example, made it have more HP for some reason.
ReplyDeleteBut that's just my opinion. :)

I am not a huge fan of the stats per se, seeing how I only play 1st edition, but its certainly not a deal breaker. I agree with above posts, layers would be a cool option for people to have.
ReplyDeleteI currently have my players going through a slightly modified Keep on the Shadowfell. They like your art on the paper mini's of yours that I have started using. My players don't see the stats so they don't matter much to us but they do look nice.
