I was recently nominated by JF of Solo Nexus for a Liebster Award, which I am very pleased to accept. The Liebster is an online award intended to promote and share blogs that have fewer than 200 followers to help them grow and build within the blogging community.
The "rules" for accepting the Liebster Award are to create a post that links back to the person who nominated you, then pass the award on to three to five other blogs with less than 200 followers that you enjoy and want to share. Without further ado, here are several blogs that I truly love dropping in on:
iSlayTheDragon
iSlayTheDragon is one of my favorite board game review sites. What started as a couple of friends writing "dueling" reviews of board games has become a really solid source for thoughtful, helpful, and fun reviews. I've found that, at least for me, their reviews have been spot on for my likes and dislikes. I also really appreciate that they include a quick breakdown of true complexity, the best number of players for a game, and actual time to play (not just what the box says).
MeepleTown
MeepleTown is a collaboration of writers that have come together to review a wide array of not only games, but the events that surround them, such as BGG.con and GenCon. While MeepleTown has a strong collection of well thought out reviews, what stands out for me are Derek Thompson's interviews with the designers behind some of the industry's biggest and best games, like Richard Garfield (Magic: the Gathering, Netrunner, and so many more) and Donald X. Vaccarino (Dominion, Kingdom Builder).
ART by STOWE
James Stowe's website has quickly become one of my favorite artist blogs. His art is fantastic, fun, and whimsical. In addition to his beautiful artwork, James has created a wonderful, kid-friendly world called "Sidekick Quests" that comes to life in his ongoing webcomic. The cream-of-the-crop, though, from James is his set of Dungeons & Dragons character sheets for kids. His series of posts titled "DND for Dads" started with his desire to boil D&D down to a simpler version for his son and son's friends to play. It's definitely worth checking out. (Here's the initial post in the series: http://jamesstowe.blogspot.com/2011/09/dnd-for-8-year-olds.html).
This is the first time I've heard of the Liebster Blog Award, but I love the concept. Also, thank you for introducing me to Solo Nexus! <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nod!
ReplyDeleteYou're more than welcome, FarmerLenny! I'm a big fan of iSlayTheDragon! I forgot to mention that I've also really been enjoying the weekly game news updates. They're really interesting and also point out some cool indie games on Kickstarter.
